"When thinking about the importance of MATS, I often think of Matthew 25:34-46. Verse 40 especially stands out: '…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' It is important to have the shelter available for the individuals and families that are having a hard time in our community and need help getting back on their feet."
Kristy Lacy, President of the Board
How Can You Help?
Support MATS Financially:
-Financial contributions to MATS are tax deductible and the best way to give straight to our ministry. You can give online through the PayPal link at the top of the page, in person at 733 W. Main St., or by mail to PO Box 1618, Morristown, TN 37816-1618.
*Although monetary gifts are extremely helpful, there are many other ways you can give to our program as well!
-We can always use items like laundry detergent and trash bags, but we also need many other daily household supplies. This is a link to an Amazon Wish List (Click Here). These items are listed in order of current priority. You can purchase them straight from Amazon and have them shipped to us or at your local store and bring them by the shelter.
Organize a Supply Drive:
-If your church or workplace would like to give items to MATS, you can always do a supply drive. Contact Lyndsey at 423-587-9215 during regular business hours to request a list of most-needed items. We can even do a pick-up when your drive is over.
Attend & Support Fundraisers:
-Even if you are unable to attend a fundraiser we are hosting, you can share the event on Facebook and with your friends and coworkers. We always have something fun coming up!
-MATS hosts several fundraising events throughout the year. We always need plenty of volunteers for our Contemporary Christian Concert (August), Turkey Smoking (November), and Glow-in-the-Dark 5K (March).
*If you are interested in volunteering with events or helping around the shelter, please fill out this form online: MATS Volunteer Questionnaire
-MATS can offer service hours for students and those who need community service hours. More information can be obtained by filling out the above form or calling 423-587-9215.
-During the cold winter months when we open our warming station, we serve a hot meal to those staying in that area of the shelter. You may call the shelter if you would like to volunteer to bring food on the nights the temperature falls below 32 degrees.
Not everyone has the time or money to give, and we completely understand that. One of the most important things anyone can give to MATS is their prayers.
Please be in prayer that MATS will continue to be able to help people find their direction. Pray that lives are radically changed and that people will find success.
